We seem to be traveling further today. People have said something about Kiel, Lübeck and then the Baltic Sea. The weather doesn’t seem to like us today either. Everything looks wet and grey.

Kiel-Holtenau lighthouse
After a while, we stopped at a lighthouse. A huge man-made wizard’s tower that occasionally lights up. Maybe this is something for the wise Wizard of Woof. I think he could make an excellent settlement here.
The lighthouse
On closer inspection, my suspicions are reinforced. The perfect place for a magician.

Tiessenkai
Then we admired the ships at Tiessenkai. Sebastian really leant over the edge.

The boats were also exciting. Sebastian studied them longingly and closely.

It’s amazing how many rescue and pilot boats there are here. There must be a nest here.

Nice people even put out a bowl of fresh water for us.

Then we met the Nielgans family. The goslings were so cute. Will I be able to keep one?

Sebastian wanted to look at the sea for longer, but we still have a lot to do, so come along!

City of Kiel
Afterwards we traveled directly to the city of Kiel. Take a look at our running route.
Parliament
Of course, we had to guard the parliament. I particularly liked how close we could get to the chamber.
In front of the plenary hall

Lucien! Don’t steal my ramp light!

That’s better!

Street side
‘Then we also had to go to the entrance. We can’t protect anyone behind the house.

Guest house of the state government / anchor of the Gorch Fock
Then we take a look at the resting place of the Gorch Fock’s anchor:

Kiel line
Our journey continued and suddenly the sun came out for a moment.

Sailboats
Gavriel wanted to capture one of the small sailing boats. Not true! Sebastian said they’re great and there’s food there.

Lucien said we should start with a smaller boat:

You can still change your clothes here, but people are bound to freeze to death. They have no fur and it’s cold today.

Then Lucien wanted to chase the seagulls away – but I think she just flew away.

Wet but still pretty, right?

Seal pool
Sebastian really wanted to study the seal pool. Yes, there are real live animals in there. Lucien was once again too small and had to climb up the glass to see anything. But the seals look really cute.

Lucien wanted to take a closer look

But because we weren’t allowed in, we decided to explore further:

Aida ship
Wow, that ship is big. I’ve never seen a ship this big before.

Kiel war memorial 1870/71
In Kiel, everything seems to be bigger than normal, including the monuments.

Kilia
This is the bronze figure “Kilia” by Eduard Lürssen. She is the patron saint of Kiel.

Explore
You can explore so much. Only this terrible weather.

Fountain
Take a little sip. If there’s a tap in the middle of the city.

Pomes Bude
Delicious human french fries. Hopefully some will fall down!

What is that?! Can you eat and drink it?

Bring it on!

Smooch
Mum! I love you so much! Thank you for the potato wedges with the new flavour!

Ahoy!
Let’s say ahoy Kiel! It was nice here, but our journey must go on.
