Day 5 Husum (castle park)

Today, our humans are in the mood for culture. They have discovered Husum Castle and its park very close to our accommodation. Maybe they can explore it.

Here is the overview plan.

Gatehouse Husum Castle

It all started with the old gatehouse. The coat of arms is impressive! I want something like that too!

Castle park

Then we went to the castle park, from where we had a good view of the castle in front of Husum.

Then we had to walk through the forte to paradise. There is so much to smell and discover here.

Bust of Ferdinand Tonnies

I don’t understand why people turn severed heads into stone, but it must have a deep cultural meaning. Surely this Mr Tönnies can shed some light on the subject.

Bust of Theodor Storm

People have left a little more on here. Is it because Theodor Storm is a famous poet? Or does money rule the world here?

Monument

A hero’s memorial is shown here with the inscription “In memory of the fallen warriors of 1870/71”. Why are there no heads or bodies here? Are heroes so immaterial?

Why do people have to fight all the time? You can quarrel sometimes, but that should be settled with a bit of barking.

Water tower

We’ve seen the Husum water tower several times, but not yet from behind. Impressive, isn’t it?

And it continues

After a short stop at the hostel, we continued on:

Mum really is a pro at driving. But we’d rather not be in the tin box.
