Day 2 – Bremen

After leaving Hanover behind us, we drive to Bremen. The home of the Bremen Town Musicians and the first federal state to border the sea. We are very excited! Can we see the sea from here? The pigeons certainly look different and it doesn’t smell like a forest.

What is an Oberneuland? Does that mean AI, machine learning? Because digitalisation is the >new territory<.

Bremen

Here is an overview of our running route – it was really exhausting!

St Peter’s Cathedral Parish

Here we see human culture. A place to worship the local monotheistic deity.

Sebastien took the opportunity to go window shopping, much more interesting than such temples.

And the lady to buy a souvenir.

Sebastian got an overview of the city and was disappointed to realise that the sea was still far too far away.

Or was he just playing the >great sea monster<?

Parliament “Bremen citizenship”

The state parliament here is not called the Landtag but the Bremen Parliament. People can’t name anything uniformly. Then we guarded the >bremische Bürgschaft< and helped our colleagues from the local police.

Training with the police

Anyone still looking for a training place should contact the police. The colleagues were very happy about our help!

Reading Town Musicians

These are the Town Musicians of Bremer Leselust. All four read a form of their own story:

Sculpture garden

Wounded Achil

Sebstian tried his hand as a chiropractor on the wounded Achil. Unfortunately, he was only moderately successful.

More statues

And again, people are naked. I don’t know, is that a trend in the north?

Böttcherstraße

Bremen sweet manufactory

In front of the Bremen candy factory there is the “Seven Lazy Fountains” and three of the four Bremen Town Musicians can be found on the fountain. The fourth has been stolen again.

There was only one sad story about the cockerel:

Facade of the Atlantis house

There are facades with history everywhere. You just have to look.

The memorial plaque commemorates Ewald Mataré.

Aquariums & works of art by Hoetger

We found a piece of >sea< after all! A public aquarium with lots of fish and corals.

It is guarded by cat statues, do they want to fish here?

Sebastian and Lucien took a close look at the whole thing.

Robison Carouso House / Specialities

To call Lucien the best bean?! And then as a chocolate speciality….

Heinrich Heine Monument

Another classic that Mum has never heard of. Mum often just shakes her head at Mum’s school education.

Heinrich Heine was a journalist, writer and poet. He lived from 1797 to 1856 and scenes from “War and Peace” can be seen on the pedestal.

Bremen Town Musicians

And here we are at the landmark of the city of Bremen. Of course we have welcomed and guarded you!

My mum wanted to grab the donkey’s legs to bring good luck.

Food

Then the people were hungry and found the Comturei . A medieval experience in which we were allowed to participate!

Main course

Look at this food!

Waiting Collies

We waited patiently and were then fed carrots by the humans!

Dessert

And the compote! My mum even let me taste the vanilla sauce. A dream! There has to be something like this every day.

Hostel

We only had our meal at the hostel. We even got something very special! A catfish steak!
