Werneck
After a long drive from Stuttgart, the lady decided that we all needed a break. So we stopped in Warneck and explored the town.
Werneck Castle
Werneck has a great castle! It is also a clinic and we were able to put a smile on a few patients’ faces.

It is called“Balthasar Neumann Schloss Werneck“. The castle was the former residence of the prince-bishops of Würzburg and was converted into a hospital in 1853.
Mum was particularly interested in the fact that bats are welcome:

Is my mum a vampire? Her canines sometimes look sharp… I notice them especially when she nips my ear. Is she perhaps looking for kin?
Balthasar Neumann Square
The mini park is fun. I’ve never seen a park so small! Do people shrink everything?

Fountain
But the fountain is funny. The water is constantly changing!

How can you drink comfortably? A fountain needs an even height!
Virgin Mary
The statue depicts the Virgin Mary. What people believe in. She is said to have given birth to a child without the co-operation of a man! Parthenogenesis is not a characteristic of humans and collies! Who gave an entire world religion this as a basis! Maybe I can create a cult of the sacred collie bone! Maybe it will be a new world religion! I have to plan this carefully!

Beach volleyball court
We also wanted to give Sebastian something to do, so we went to the beach volleyball court. So much sand… This is what a beach should look like!
But Sebastian felt he was being made fun of at the sight of it.

The beach is missing! It’s just sand!
It continues
But we didn’t have much time to think about it, we still had to get to the hotel:

Obermöllrich
Obermöllrich was the destination. A quick check-in and then some exploring!

Then we went for a walk around the town. So that you have a picture of where we were:
The best thing about Obermöllrich: there is a collie breeder!

We were allowed to sniff each other at the fence! And heard the ladies. One smelled particularly good!
But the people were hungry and had nothing with them, so we got back in the car to go to the neighbouring village. I would have loved to have seen a lady like that!

Fritzlar
The next largest town to Obermöllrich is Fritzlar. Fritzlar is a lovely little town. Unfortunately we had rain – lots of rain. Exploring is not so great then.

Is this for tethering people?

Telephone box
In front of the city wall – near the Grey Tower – there is an English telephone box! I want to call my pack!

Lucien found it boring because he already knew one of these from Dover.
Dinner
So Lucien wasn’t thinking about his family but – as we can see here – about eating:

Speaking of food, people were hungry, so follow your nose!

The food looked and smelled delicious,

but we collies didn’t get any of it. Meanness!

Lady bug tree
On the digestive walk it was a little drier and we discovered a Lady bug tree. This pest looks almost magical!

Grey tower
And we also found a large tower. That must be an important point for people. There were signs everywhere…

The tower is called the Grey Tower and, as you can see, it is part of the city wall.
Accommodation
Then it was back to Obermöllrich, where our bed, bathrobes and food were waiting for us.

We don’t want to get everything wet.
Evaluation Warneck and Fitzlar
Warneck is a good place to stretch your legs. Fitzlar has a charming old town centre and beautiful historic buildings.
Journey
Finding a good car park is a bit difficult in Warneck, but Fitzlar makes it easy. Unfortunately, rainy weather doesn’t make it any easier.
Experience
The Warneck hospital and the centre of Fitzlar are very interesting and well worth a visit. It’s best to take a little more time than we had.
Dog suitability
Dog riders have nothing to complain about. There is a lot to discover and people are open to dog riders. Even when they’re wet.
Useful information
You can find information on the Warneck tourism page.
