Schmotziger Dunschtig

The humas have a couple of strange days every year. The call them different from region to region. The Lady says Weiberfastnacht. The male Servant called it Schmotziger Dunschtig.

Who will know more read at the SWR news. The Schmotziger Dunschtig has different traditions that will celebrated. Here in south Germany/Swiss there will be a fool tree planted and there is Gugge music. The humans meets and have fun at this strange music.

One of the customs is to dress up.

We have tried. What do you thing about our costumes?

By the way the humans will dress up often in the year. The have a holiday called Halloween.

Christmas markets in Munich

24. December 2022

We were on grant Christmas market tour in Munich. We had some days to spend and looked to many different markets. We were at the Residenzschloss-Weihnachtsmarkt, Am Sendlinger Tor, on the Marienplatz, at the Englischen Garten and in Schwabingen.

There was a speaking elk. I must inspect him close! As he started I lost my hat out of surprise!

Especially exciting where the different sledges!

The decorate the garbage bins too… How strange…

Every little Collie Knight get wound paws while walking. But there a so many places and stalls to enjoy!

There’s a figurine displays too!

I beautified some monuments.

Sometimes you must like your humans very well!

The stage was mine!

We were on different other spots in Munich but that is for an other story.

Medival Christmas Market Esslingen

23. December 2022

On our way back from the interview with my potential squire we stopped at the medival Christmas market of Esslingen.

We parked a good walk a way from the market. So we could enjoy the city a bit.

The art of the city is useful! I am impressed!

The market itself is beautiful but packed! There are lots of stalls but the hustle is really big!

There is a district for >medival< plays like axe throwing and a medival hand operated feris wile for the small squires and ladies.

There was a dragon, too. But he was to shy to pose with me!

We were there exact at the right time to see the alchemist working! The wise Wizard of Woof would be stunned by his college.

While the alchemist makes his show I occupied his stall and rise awareness of Santa Paws!

We found a mistletoe stall, with fresh mistletoes. We buyed one for the wise Wizard of woof!

The human stuff got hungry and than they ate like kings. I watched them and no thing let them drop something for me. That was so cruel of them!

We saw a christmas parade! I cheer very loud.

It got dark and cold. We decided to go home.

Before we got home we found a ghost train! I will tell it my new squire if he arrived here!

The travel by car is complicated. The highway and the enviromental zones in Germany made it hard to arrive properly and parking space is rare.

The market is beautiful and inspiring, but it is packed too!

Doggy Knights are allowed but there is very little movement space. Some dogs are not so friendly, be careful where you put your nose.

Christmas Market Darmstadt

23. December 2022

Santa Paws and his human helpers traveled to Darmstadt.

They could not avoid the beautiful Christmas market.

There are lots of different stalls! From basket waver to pancake maker there was so many!

For Sir Barkalot we got a new sword.

Especially exiting was that original Swiss Raclette stall! It smelled Amazing!

I met a colleague of the wise Wizard of Woof!

There is a carousel too!

I have post with little and big humans! I tolled them the importance of Santa Paws! I smiled until a litte human girl tried to kidnap me! Then I parkt sharp and the situation was okey again! Little Humans need lots of training!

Interesting is the human relation to art. Not my taste really… bit for territory marking it is ok!

We have made a quick trip to the city and found some special things!

I visited the local alchemist supply store for the wise Wizard of Woof. It was closed…

At the end we meet the local rescue dog group. I am so lucky that I not passed the examination. The poor things must sit in the cold and wait!

Christmas market Freiburg

The lady and I was in Freiburg im Breisgau on the Christmas market! We send the male servant work and enjoyed our alone time.

The whole city is decorated!

There is live music on every corner.

The market got bigger this year. There so many interesting things!

And a carousel too!

The churches are decorated and you find there a place to relax and enjoy.

This year there is a foto stall.

Unfortunately humom has disconfigured the camera. But there are some good images.

Christmas Market Waldshut

22. December 2022

We were on the Christmas market in Waldshut. But let me tell the story from the begin.

The day started with a early car ride. We meet Uncle Sam and discovered a new path through the woods.

There is a straw bunker. That have so much straw that it will fill every manger around! It is interesting what you find if you go a new way!

We had have lots of fun in the woods and the snow!

After the incredible walk we started our way south to Waldshut. There is a little and special christmas market!

I posed with the statures of the saints and found new friends and admirer!

Ther Market is mostly a craftsmanship and food market. The bigist highlights are the Flammlachs and the Met stall.

I I convinced Humom to share with me her Flammlachs. He tasted incredible! Get one if you have the option!

There is a beautiful Christmas crib. But a doggy shepherds was missing. I tried to fill this gap! Am I good?

Traveling through the Black Forrest is easy if you like small challenging roads with beautiful views . There are hiking car parkas every now and then. In Waldshut we recommend to you the parking behind the train station.

Adventures

The walk with uncle Sam was relaxing.

The market is super! Go there and eat a Flammlachs and drink a Met!

Dog friendliness

Santa Paws is admired form big and small people on the market. Exchange greetings and smile for pictures is a must have. There is plenty of space to look and sniff.

Yule

Today is the shortest day and a day to celebrate. Get your delicious Yule meal and some mead friends and gather together!

We celebrate today the return of the light. The days get longer and brighter from today on! The gray of the autumn goes and the white of the snow comes.

Every wizard has a Yule blessing spell. Here is my for you.

Yule the shortest of days, 
so dark and no one says.
The light returns,

The bold darkness do not fear,

The darkness is the shield,

Christmas market Frankfurt

15. December 2022

We were on christmas market tour in Frankfurt am Main and meet Sky the local Husky Queen!

We learned much over Frankfurt. Humom and Hudad were never in Frankfurt. Humom was near the City as little puppy, but can’t remember it well.

The market has lots of stalles, crips and a dog bakery! Unfortunately all interesting treats have egg in it. And the without egg are with another no-no-food… I ordered that this must be changed! I will tell this scandal Santa Paws!

Sky leads us to the best places in the city and tolled all her subjects of my Christmas mission. We showed some children the importance of Santa Paws!

Travel

It is easy to get to Frankfurt am Main City. Follow the Motorway until you find the right car park. We decided to use car park Hauptwache. Come early there are not many parking places!

Adventures

The christmas market is central. There are lots of interesting stalles and food! There are dog bakeries! Queen Sky has tested the goods and was very pleased!

The Main riverbank is very beautiful and the skyline is breathtaking. If you will escape the rush go to the riverbanks!

Dog friendliness

The doggy knight is welcome and loved. But keep attention near the stalls it can be a bit tightly. Start early to enjoy. Later the places are more packed.

Christmas Market Friedrichshafen

8. December 2022

On our journey back to Titisee we stopped in Friedrichshafen and visited the Christmas market. It is a small market direct at the Bodensee.

We were a bit to early. The market opens at 12:00 o’clock under the week. We decided to explore the city.

We found some strange looking sculptures!

Some were a bit shady!

After this the humans got hungry! The found a nice Indian place! I was so happy to can rest a bit!

We were on St. Nics day in Friedrichshafen. There are decorated stalls and it smelled amazing! The humans got silly an made some funny pictures.

I met a new friend a she Husky and discovered the harbor.

And then I spotted it! The Paradise for Dogs! Look for your self!

To get to the market is easy use the car park Altstadt and go out of the door. You find the market right behind a little passage. You must have some drinks to get this wrong!

Adventures

The market is central and very beautiful! It worth it to go there!

The harbor and the city is also interesting and a must see! If it to much on the market you can walk there!

Dog friendliness

The noble doggy knight is allowed to roam every part of the market. It can be a bit crowded at the stalles. The doggy knight isn’t allowed to go foray at the food stalls or piss the decorated trees.

Ravennaschlucht Christmas market

1. December 2022

We were on the Ravennaschlucht Christmas market. We walked from our home through the Ravennaschlucht valley. We found on our way the top secret Santa Paws Distribution center construction side. I got assigned to represent Santa Paws on the market!

The walk was exhausting. There are so many steps! And it dangerous! There are some slippery parts. I had to protect the Lady from falling!

But the view was breathtaking! After this we entered the Christmas market. Please buy the tickets before you start walking. You stand very long if you will buy the tickets at the market.

The first thing that us greeted were the figurines of the tree kings and a beautiful light installation.

After the figurin path we moved on to the market. There are food and craftsmans stalles! Have I told you from the food? Like a Dream! There are bits of salmon, sausages, Käsespätzle (cheese noodles), Raclette, mulled wine and many more options! It smells so divine!

I had have the opportunity to pose with St. Nikolaus! Santa Paws meets St. Nic!

The lighting of the market was stunning!

We strengthen us with some Käsespätzle in a waffle. The Lady ate the Spätzle and I got the waffle! I tried to get some Spätzle, but the Lady refused. But I got the waffle!

The bus shuttle must booked in this year. We decided to walk back home via the Löffeltal path.

The walk to the market via the Ravennaschlucht is not easy. The humans must wear hicking gear and solid boots. As doggy knight you must be free from giddiness and saves on the stairs. It is very slippery. Be careful where you put your paws. In the dark the way get harder. Please use the tarred path (Löffeltalweg) to Hinterzarten, if it got dark! The tarred path is not lighted until Hinterzarten. Take a light with you or use the bus shuttle!
